Cambodia: A one - month tourist visa is available
on arrival at Pochentong International Airport and in Siem Reap Airport for US$20.
Visas can also be issued at Cambodian Embassies or Consulates abroad. Visas can
be obtained at Aranyaprathet (Thailand) / Poi Pet and Hat Lek (Thailand) / Ko
Kong although you are advised to check in advance. All visitors across the border
check points from Vietnam and Thailand are encouraged to obtain entry visas at
the Cambodian Embassies abroad, prior to crossing. Passports must be
valid for at least six months. Visas require one passport photo and costs US$20
valid for 1 month.
Laos: Visa needed, requiring
passport and two two-inch photos, valid for one month, cost US$30 and taking approx.
3 days to process. Visa on arrival also available at Wattay airport, Friendship
bridge, Luang Prabang airport and at Chong Mek. (Entry formalities are likely
to be relaxed further as tourism expands, so check with the nearest Lao embassy
for latest information). Myanmar:
Tourist Visa requirements: two application forms, original passport and three
passport-size photos. Validity one month. Cost US$20. Processing time two working
days. Regulations are now relaxed for tourists arriving by air in Yangon. Completed
immigration and customs declaration forms issued during the flight must be submitted
on arrival. All foreign currency in excess of US$ 2,000.-, plus jewellery, cameras
etc. must be recorded on the customs form and may be checked on departure. No
Myanmar currency may be imported or exported. Duty free allowance is 200 cigarettes
and one litre of wine or spirit. Note that export of antiques, Buddha images and
gems without official dealer's receipt, is strictly prohibited. Baggage may be
X-rayed or inspected before departure. Mobile phones of any type will be impounded
and released on departure. Thailand: Check
with your nearest Thai Embassy for latest information. Currently, nationals from
57 countries can stay up to 30 days without a visa. Visa on arrival is now available
for 96 countries at the international airports in Bangkok, Phuket, Hat Yai, Chiang
Mai and U-Taphao, and at immigration check points in Mae Sai, Chiang Saen, Chiang
Khong, Batong and Sadao for 15 days stay. A Tourist visa is valid for 60 days.
Narcotics, firearms and pornographic materials are strictly prohibited. Any amount
of foreign currency may be brought in for personal use . Vietnam:
A valid visa is required, obtainable at Vietnamese embassies and consulates abroad.
Business visas can be applied for through a Vietnamese sponsoring agency, valid
for up to six months and allowing multiple entries. The one-month visa fees are
US$25 for single entry & transit visas, US$10 for extension of single entry visa,
US$40-100 for multiple entry and US$16 for extension of multiple entry visa. This
information should be checked prior to travel. Original passport and two two-inch
photos are needed for visa application. Allow four working days to process.
An official declaration forms must be filled in and presented with luggage to
customs on arrival. Visitors may import 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars or 250g of Tobacco,
1 litre of wine, 1 litre of liquor and an unlimited amount of film. Commercial
goods and items of high value being taken out of Vietnam require export permits
from the Customs Service. Antiques may be confiscated permanently. The export
of local currency is forbidden. Travellers can take with them unlimited amounts
of souvenirs bought with receipts. Yunnan (China):
A Visa is required. A three-month visa costs US$30, and processing time is four
working days. Duty free allowance: 200 cigarettes and one quart of wine or
spirit. The export of antiques, without official dealer's receipt, is prohibited.
A customs declaration must be completed on arrival, and surrendered on departure.
Valuable items, such as video cameras, laptop computers, etc. which are declared
on the form must be exported, otherwise import duties will be charged. |
