Kakku Trekking - Full Day Excursion

Itinerary

• This morning, leave our hotel to go to the village of Nampan Zaygon.
• From here we start to walk through rice fields, along villages on a very easy walk for about two hours. The footpath climbs very little and the view back to the lake is just stunning.
• Refreshing stop at the foot of the hill in a bamboo forest.
• From here, for about 1 hour, we climb to the mountain top, a steep walk. Once on top, the footpath again is very easy and you walk over rolling hills to the next village. The total walk is about 6 hours.
• From the village we then drive by car to Kakku where we arrive around 2 pm.
• Lunch at Hlaing Khone Restaurant.
• Then, discover the "long lost" ruins of Kak Ku. Situated in the Shan Hills, the site of Kak Ku is very unusual and little is known about it's origins. The Pa O people believe that the original pagoda was built on the site some 2,000 years ago. Dozens of small stupas surround the main pagoda in a huge circle. You can wander through the stupas which are decorated with fine stucco work and buddha images. Unfortunately Kak Ku is in bad need of renovation but this is part of its charm.
• Visit one of the many Pa O villages near Kak Ku and see a huge monastery.
